Class Descriptions

Freedom to Flourish – Mindful Eating & Setting Intentions
Monday, June 13th 5:30 – 7:00 pm, online class

Mindful eating involves all the senses and allows you to be curious, even playful as you investigate your responses to food and your inner cues to hunger and satisfaction with kindness and without judgement.

When you set an intention, you are telling yourself and the world – who you want to be, what you wish to contribute, and how you choose to touch the lives of others. Intentions are in the moment, how we are choosing to be right now, as we are.

In this class

  • You will be introduced to the practice of mindful eating

  • You will experience mindfully eating a raisin

  • You will have the opportunity to set a mindful eating intention

  • You will learn a mini-meditation practice you can use at any time to promote mindfulness with eating and in your life

Freedom to Flourish – Appetite Awareness & Loving-kindness

Appetite Awareness encourages you to listen and respond to your internal cues around hunger, fullness and food choices in place of counting calories, fat grams and/or carbs and following the “food rules” imposed by diets.

Loving-kindness meditation has been scientifically proven to help us be less hard on ourselves while at the same time increasing our capacity for empathy.

  • You will learn to recognize biological and psychological hunger

Resilience is the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity. The RAIN meditation practice allows you to accommodate disruptions without self-blame and judgement and recognize there are times in life when for one reason or another, nutrition or other health-promoting behaviors need to take a back seat.

In this class

  • You will learn the concepts of gentle nutrition

  • You will be introduced to the Nutrition Hierarchy of Needs

  • You will explore concepts of fullness and satisfaction

  • You will be provided a toolbox for meal preparedness

Core values inform your thoughts, decisions, and actions and help you align your life path to what's important to you. They're the essential foundation in finding your life purpose because they remind us – and others – who we truly are.

In this class

  • You will be introduced to the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating

  • You will be provided strategies to implement intuitive eating skills
